Guy Noves named new France coach

The French Rugby Federation confirms that Guy Noves will take charge of the national team after the World Cup.

Guy Noves has been named as the new coach of the France national rugby team.

The 61-year-old will replace Philippe Saint-Andre after the upcoming Rugby World Cup.

Noves, who has signed a four-year contract with Les Bleus, has guided Toulouse to 10 league titles and four European Cups since 1993.

"I am happy and proud of this nomination," he said in a statement. "Representing my country is a great honour and a great responsibility.

"I am the leading supporter of the France national side and I wish with all my heart that they have a great World Cup."

Former England coach Sir Clive Woodward had been among the candidates to take charge of the team before Noves's appointment.
