Alex Goode in line to replace Mike Brown against Ireland

Alex Goode will be the man to replace Mike Brown if he can't play against Ireland, confirms head coach Stuart Lancaster.

England head coach Stuart Lancaster has confirmed that Saracens full-back Alex Goode will be the man to replace Mike Brown, should he fail to recover from concussion for their trip to Ireland in two weeks' time.

Brown was stretchered off early on in England's win over Italy, and he will not train this week as the medical team follow the correct procedure.

Lancaster said that Brown will be assessed before a decision is taken on his availability, and he hopes to have him fit for the crucial game.

He told reporters: "Alex Goode would certainly be the next full-back in line but we're hopeful it won't come to that."

Goode has 16 caps for England.
