Stuart Lancaster: England ready for World Cup

Head coach Stuart Lancaster declares that England are "ready" for the World Cup after beating Ireland 21-13 at Twickenham.

Head coach Stuart Lancaster has declared that England are "ready" for the World Cup after beating Ireland 21-13 at Twickenham.

The hosts impressed in the first half, scoring tries through Jonny May and Anthony Watson, before holding off an Irish fightback to secure the victory.

"We wanted an improved performance after the defeat in France and we got it. We are ready now," Lancaster told reporters.

"There are six or seven teams who could win the World Cup and whoever does so will have put a run of seven performances together, but playing at Twickenham the way we did today, we are a hard team to beat."

England return to Twickenham on September 18, where they will kick off the World Cup against Fiji.
