England have been warned by tournament officials at the World Cup that they face a fine if the numbers on their shirts continue to peel off.
The white numbering on England's black kit began to rub off during Saturday's 13-9 victory over Argentina.
Officials have reportedly since contacted the England camp to seek assurances that there will not be a repeat in Sunday's match against Romania.
"Nobody has contacted us yet. They know we will sort it out," confirmed an England team spokesman.
England's all-back strip has been the source of much controversy in recent weeks.
