Fly-half Nicky Robinson kicked three first-half penalties to put the hosts on the back foot in the early going.
Unable to respond, the London side went into half-time with a nine-point deficit.
Lee Mears put Bath's first points on the board soon after the restart, crossing over to reduce the deficit to four.
Stephen Donald doubled their total in minutes by scoring another try to go in front, before center Olly Barkley added another pair of points to put them three ahead.
Bath fullback Nick Abendanon crossed over to extend the home team's lead with less than 10 minutes to go, before Robinson added another three to his total to set up a close finish.
