The World Club Challenge will take place in Australia for the first time in 20 years in 2014.

NRL winners Sydney Roosters will host Super League champions Wigan Warriors at the Allianz Stadium on February 22.

Wigan coach Shaun Wane (pictured) said in a statement: "It is great that the World Club Challenge returns to Australia.

"The Roosters are a champion side but we are excited about travelling to Sydney for the game and the challenge that lies before us as we aim to be crowned world club champions for a fourth time."

The last 14 World Club Challenges have been held in England. The last time that another country hosted the event was when Auckland's Ericsson Stadium was the stage in 1997.

Wigan were victorious when Australia last hosted the WCC. The Lancashire club beat Brisbane 20-14 at ANZ Stadium in 1994.
