Widnes Vikings sign NRL centre Charly Runciman from St George Illawarra Dragons

Super League outfit Widnes Vikings complete the signing of St George Illawarra Dragons centre Charly Runciman.

Widnes Vikings have confirmed the signing of St George Illawarra Dragons centre Charly Runciman on a deal until the end of 2016.

The 21-year-old, who will arrive in time for the Vikings' Super 8s campaign, has represented New South Wales at Under-20s level, and made two appearances in the NRL for St George this season.

"He's an out-and-out centre, he's a decent size, he's big and fast and has a very good character," Vikings head coach Denis Betts told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"We were looking at Charly to come in next year and we got the possibility of him coming over as quickly as he could. St George were fantastic in how they dealt with him."

With one game of the regular season remaining, the Lancashire side are resigned to the second tier of Super 8s.

They host Salford Red Devils on Sunday but can only finish as high as ninth in the Super League.
