St Helens coach Nathan Brown is fined £1,000 following his comments about referee Phil Bentham after his side's win over Wigan.

St Helens coach Nathan Brown has been fined £1,000 after he was found guilty of a misconduct charge following comments that he made about referee Phil Bentham.

The 40-year-old criticised the match official after St Helens' Super League 16-12 victory over Wigan Warriors.

A statement on the club's official website read: "He was deemed to be in breach of Operational Rule D1.8 (c) by engaging in conduct which is prejudicial to the interests of the game; Operational Rule D1.10 (i) by criticising the character of a match official or criticising the manner in which a match officials has officiated at a game in which the club has taken part; and the RFL Respect Policy."

Brown, who has also received a warning, has had £500 of his fine suspended until the end of the 2015 campaign.
