Shaun Lunt: 'Anything can happen'

Shaun Lunt says that the Huddersfield Giants will take no encouragement from last month's win over Wigan Warriors when Shaun Wane's men visit the John Smith's Stadium for tonight's Super League playoff.

Huddersfield Giants hooker Shaun Lunt has said that tonight's Super League playoff clash with Wigan Warriors will be nothing like last month's meeting at the DW Stadium.

The Claret and Gold triumphed 30-12 over Shaun Wane's men, which was their second victory of the season against the Cherry and Whites.

Lunt said that Wane was without many of his top performers that night, while stating that anything can happen in the playoffs.

"They had some world-class players out, they will be a totally different side on Thursday night," Lunt told the club's official website.

"It's playoff rugby and it doesn't matter what happened in the league. Look at Leeds last year, we finished fifth and went on to win it.

"There's a safety net but you don't want to lose because you're panicking a bit for the next game. If you win that game, you can relax and heal a few injuries and knocks and get ready for the semi-final."

Huddersfield are looking to win their eighth championship this season.
