Brett Ferres: 'Future is bright for England after series win'

Brett Ferres praises England's work ethic in their 20-14 series-clinching win over New Zealand, claiming that the future now looks bright for his side.

England forward Brett Ferres has challenged his side to use their series victory over New Zealand as a platform to push on.

Steve McNamara's men held on to clinch a thrilling final-Test decider 20-14 at Wigan's DW stadium this afternoon.

It marks an impressive achievement for the hosts, who had not tasted success against the Kiwis since 2007 when Great Britain triumphed 3-0.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Ferres said: "When we completed the sets and ground out, we looked a good team. It is a tough game and both teams had to work hard.

"To come out on top is brilliant and we have some really young guys. The future is bright for us."

England won the opening match of the series 26-12 a fortnight ago, before New Zealand levelled things up last weekend to set up today's pivotal decider.
