Justin Carney bags four tries in emphatic Castleford Tigers win

A Justin Carney-inspired Castleford Tigers ease past Wakefield Trinity Wildcats with a 58-20 victory at Belle Vue.

Castleford Tigers have kept their Super League top-four hopes alive thanks to a 58-20 victory over basement boys Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

It was the home side who made the stronger start to things, crossing over just five minutes in through Reece Lyne.

The Fords were soon back in it, though, when Grant Millington showed superb strength to shrug off four opposition players and touch down.

Luke Gale was next to find the whitewash on 18 minutes following a Wakefield mistake, but Anthony Walker crossed over from short range to leave the game delicately poised.

Two tries either side of half time swung the contest Castleford's way, however, as Mike McMeeken and Oli Holmes found a way through to put the visitors on their way.

Luke Dorn and Justin Carney then found the whitewash in quick succession to create some breathing space, shortly before Tom Johnstone did likewise for the hosts with a quick-fire double of his own.

Another couple of tries in the space of two minutes well and truly put the icing on the cake for the Tigers right at the very death, with Carney rounding off his hat-trick and Dorn following in suit after being picked out by Junior Moors' superb pass.

There was still enough time for Carney to then round off the scoring with a fourth of the match to get Cas back to winning ways at Belle Vue.
