Valencia have announced that they will meet with city officials next week to get the project of their proposed new stadium back on track.
Work on the 65,000-capacity Nou Mestalla first began in August 2007, but construction came to a grinding halt in February 2009 due to financial issues.
The stadium had been earmarked to open in time for the 2009-10 season, but no work has been undertaken on the site for more than eight years.
Meanwhile, a pre-existing agreement with the local council stipulating that Los Che must vacate the current Estadio Mestalla by 2023 remains in place.
Valencia have published a statement which read: "Valencia CF plans to start meeting with municipal officials in the next week in order to process the necessary licenses for the completion of our new stadium.
"We are working on a renewed and sustainable design within the current site, our biggest priority is that during a visit to the new stadium, which is primarily designed for football, you are also able to attend other events."
The La Liga club had originally hoped to complete construction for their centenary in 2019, but this deadline is set to be missed.
