NFL security guard sacked after performing indecent act at game

A security firm apologises after one of its employees engaged in a "disturbing act" in front of a capacity crowd during San Diego Chargers' clash with Oakland Raiders.

A security guard has been dismissed after being filmed performing an indecent act in front of more than 68,000 spectators at an NFL game.

Footage posted on Facebook shows the unidentified Elite employee engaging in what a San Diego Chargers spokesman described as a "disturbing act" in their home match against Oakland Raiders last weekend.

Those in attendance reported seeing an official with his hands in his trousers while standing near a group of cheerleaders at the Qualcomm Stadium, with the security guard's employers taking swift action by terminating his contract.

"We are aware of the disturbing actions of an Elite security staff member at Sunday's game," the London Evening Standard quotes a spokesman for the security firm as saying. "Elite would like to apologise to anyone who was offended by this isolated incident.

"Additionally, Elite has opened a formal investigation into the matter and has acted swiftly in terminating the employee involved. Elite insists on the highest moral standards from our employees."

The guard could now potentially face charges of lewd conduct in public, carrying a potential six-month jail term and a hefty fine.
