Three Russian football fans jailed over Marseille violence at Euro 2016

A French court sentences three Russian football fans to prison for their involvement in the violent scenes over the weekend in Marseille at Euro 2016.

A French court has sentenced three Russian football supporters to prison for their involvement in the violent brawls at the weekend in Marseille during Euro 2016.

In the build-up to Saturday's 1-1 draw between England and Russia, both sets of fans clashed in the city.

Russian fans were also seen kicking their rival supporters in the Stade Velodrome on the final whistle, which prompted UEFA to issue a suspended disqualification, meaning that if similar scenes occur again, Russia will be knocked out of the tournament.

Today, Alexei Erunov was sentenced to two years in prison, while Sergei Gorbachev and Nikolai Morozov were jailed for 18 months and 12 months respectively, according to The AP.

Meanwhile, French officials have confirmed that 20 Russian men will be deported.
