Spanish third-tier side Merida AD tie up suspended player

Spanish third-tier side Merida AD mock Real Madrid by tying up a suspended player after the La Liga side fielded an ineligible player in the Copa del Rey.

Spanish club Merida AD has mocked Real Madrid by posting images on Twitter of one of their players tied up ahead of their match against Cadiz this weekend.

The La Liga side are facing expulsion from the Copa del Rey after fielding the suspended Denis Cheryshev in their 3-1 win over Cadiz earlier this week.

Defender Johny is not available for this weekend's match, so the club has taken precautions to make sure they do not make the same mistake:

Real Madrid have insisted that they did not know that Cheryshev, who spent last season on loan with Villarreal, was unavailable.
