Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo will help charitable organisation Save the Children with their campaign after becoming their new Global Artist Ambassador.

The Portugal international has agreed to work alongside the organisation to help prevent child hunger and promote healthy eating and staying active.

"When I learned that one in seven kids around the world go to bed hungry each night, I jumped at the chance to get involved," Ronaldo told their official website.

"It is an honour to join Save the Children. I want to work with them to make sure that fewer parents will have to struggle with putting the right kinds of food on the table. I also want to encourage kids to get out there, get active and get fit."

The 27-year-old also claimed that his two-year-old son was an inspiration behind getting involved.
