Floyd Mayweather Jr tops Forbes rich list, Cristiano Ronaldo comes in second

Undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr is named the richest sportsman in the world by Forbes, with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo in second.

Unbeaten American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr has been named by Forbes as the world's richest sports star.

The pound-for-pound fighter, who regularly boasts about his wealth on social media, earns $105m (£65.9m) per year, which makes him the standout leader in the pack.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently regarded as the best footballer in the world due to his Ballon d'Or title, is second in the list with a yearly fortune of $89m (£55.8m).

NBA star LeBron James rounds off the top three with a sum of $72.3m (£45.5m), while Barcelona's Lionel Messi comes in fourth on $64.7m (£40.7m).
