Northern Ireland fan dies at Euro 2016

A Northern Ireland football fan in his sixties passes away at Euro 2016 after collapsing and suffering a cardiac arrest while watching his team in Lyon.

A Northern Ireland football fan in his sixties has passed away at Euro 2016 while watching his team in action.

According to ITV Sport, local police confirmed the tragedy shortly after Northern Ireland recorded a 1-0 win over Ukraine in Lyon on Thursday afternoon.

The same report claims that the unnamed supporter collapsed after suffering a cardiac arrest.

It is understood that around 80 minutes into the match, a call for help was made from the stands, but a specialised medical team were unable to save his life.

The man is the second Northern Ireland supporter to pass away at the championships in France after 24-year-old Darren Rogers fell to his death from a promenade in Nice last weekend.
