Tennis star Maria Sharapova ignores body-image pressures on court

Maria Sharapova says that she doesn't think about her image when she's on the court, despite being regarded as one of the more glamorous tennis stars.

Tennis star Maria Sharapova has insisted that she has no image concerns when she is on the court because she is focused on the match at hand.

The former world number one, who won the French Open earlier this year, has established a celebrity presence throughout her career.

However, the Russian athlete, who has her own line of sweets branded Sugarpova, puts her glamorous image to the back of her mind when she competes.

The 27-year-old told the September issue of Self magazine: "When I'm on the court, I'm not thinking about how I look. I do my ponytail in two seconds, and I'm not wearing a stitch of make-up. I'm confident in my skin and I'm there to play the game."

Sharapova is currently dating fellow tennis player Grigor Dimitrov.
