Eugenie Bouchard tipped to take Maria Sharapova's spot as top earner

Marketing experts tip Eugenie Bouchard to overtake Maria Sharapova as one of the biggest earners in tennis.

Eugenie Bouchard has been tipped by marketing experts to eventually replace Maria Sharapova as one of the biggest female earners in tennis.

The 20-year-old is expected to rake in at least £800,000 following her progression into the Wimbledon final following a straight-sets win over Simona Halep yesterday.

"When Sharapova is ready to give up her crown, Bouchard will be ready to take it," the Daily Mail quotes Rupert Pratt of sports marketing agency Generate as saying. "There is no doubt she can earn tens of millions per year.

"As long as Bouchard keeps doing well she will keep growing in marketability. She is Canadian and if she can open up the North America market that is highly lucrative."

Bouchard is said to have just over £1m career earnings to her name.
