Former world number one golfer Rory McIlroy has admitted that he needed to "recharge the batteries" when he went on holiday to Ibiza with a group of his friends.
The Northern Irishman flew to the Spanish island for a week after missing the cut at the Irish Open around a fortnight ago.
The 25-year-old decided to go on the trip after ending his engagement with tennis player Caroline Wozniacki in May, just days after the couple sent out wedding invitations.
"I had just over a couple of weeks off and in the first of those I went on holiday with a few of the boys, which was nice as I just chilled out," ESPN quotes McIlroy as saying.
"It was the first time in four years that I had gone on a lads' trip. It was great, chilled out and it was nice to get away from the game for a bit. It was nice to have that chance to recharge the batteries."
Meanwhile, McIlroy has been romantically linked with Irish model Nadia Forde.
