British boxer Amir Khan has likened his wedding to Faryal Makhdoom to 12 rounds in the ring.

The Bolton-born fighter married his 20-year-old fiancee in New York, which was followed by more Muslim celebrations in the UK.

"I thought fighting was hard!" Khan told the Daily Star. "We had the main wedding in New York and then came back to Manchester for more celebrations.

"In total it lasted about two weeks with about eight different events. It was so tiring. It was like doing 12 rounds – 12 rounds every time.

"Every day there was something new with hundreds of people. It was harder than being in the ring."

The couple made their union official last month.
