Phillips Idowu banned from driving for two years

Phillips Idowu is given a two-year driving ban and ordered to carry out 50 hours of community service after being caught driving while over the legal limit.

Former triple jump world champion Phillips Idowu has been hit with a two-year driving ban and ordered to complete 50 hours of community service.

The 34-year-old admitted at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court of being over the limit when he was stopped by police on September 20.

After getting pulled over and failing a breathalyzer test, Idowu was taken to the Epping police station and found to be two-and-a-half times over the legal limit.

The athlete has also been fined £145 and £85 in costs.
