Former England defender Sol Campbell is reportedly interested in working towards a seat in Parliament with the Conservatives.
The 40-year-old has expressed a desire to work as an ambassador for the Tories following his recent blast over proposed mansion tax.
Labour leader Ed Miliband has claimed that people who own properties worth more than £2m should be hit with an annual charge.
According to the Daily Star, Campbell is in talks with the Conservatives about getting involved in the run-up to next year's general election.
"I would like to work as some sort of a consultant or ambassador, starting in a sporting role and going from there," Campbell is quoted as saying. "It seems that politics is listening to me more than the industry I played in."
Despite Campbell's reported intentions, bookmakers Ladbrokes have given the former defender a 25/1 outside chance of being selected as a Tory MP.
