Footballers 'seen urinating into glasses at Cheltenham Festival'

Footballers Samir Carruthers and James Collins are facing investigations after the release of images that appear to show them urinating into glasses at Cheltenham.

The Cheltenham Festival has cancelled a booking that involved professional footballers after two players were pictured allegedly urinating into glasses on day one of the meeting yesterday afternoon.

One of the footballers in question - MK Dons midfielder Samir Carruthers - is said to have been seen relieving himself on the balcony of one of the private boxes at the Festival.

When asked for a comment on the incident, Championship strugglers MK Dons said: "The club has commenced an internal investigation into the matter."

Meanwhile, it has been claimed that Northampton Town centre-forward James Collins committed a similar act, before the urine was then tipped over the side of the balcony.

It is also believed that the Cobblers have launched their own investigation.

Regardless of the outcome of those reviews, neither player will be permitted entry to the event today.

"In regards to images of inappropriate behaviour from yesterday, we have cancelled their booking for today," read a message on the Festival's official Twitter feed this morning.

Both Carruthers and Collins came through the youth ranks of the Premier League's basement side Aston Villa.
