Manchester United will reportedly spend £500,000 on installing a new pitch at Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United will reportedly spend £500,000 on laying a new pitch at Old Trafford in time for next season.

Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson complained over the hectic festive schedule that the pitch wasn't up to scratch, which is thought to have prompted plans to re-lay the grass.

Ferguson has asked the club to buy a new hybrid pitch, made up of grass and synthetics, which will be installed by Dutch company Desso when the season comes to a close, according to Goal.com.

The North-West club, who are on course to snatch the Premier League title back from Manchester City, have been playing on the same pitch for six years.
