Ex-Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson 'attends funeral of Rio Ferdinand's wife'

Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly among a number of Manchester United stars who attended the recent private funeral of Rio Ferdinand's wife Rebecca Ellison.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was reportedly one of the mourners that attended the private funeral of Rio Ferdinand's wife Rebecca Ellison in Kent.

Almost a fortnight ago, Ferdinand, who spent 12 years at Old Trafford before joining Queens Park Rangers in 2014, announced that his wife had died following a short battle with cancer.

Ferguson and numerous current first-team United players, including Robin van Persie, as well as former Red Devils Nemanja Vidic, Edwin van der Sar and Darren Fletcher, paid their respects as Ms Ellison was laid to rest in Bromley, according to The Sun.

Ms Ellison, who married Ferdinand in 2009, is the mother of the footballer's three children - Lorenz, nine, Tate, six, and four-year-old Tia.
