David de Gea reveals that he would have studied for a degree at university had he not become a footballer.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has revealed that he would have gone to university to study for a degree had he not embarked on a football career.

While the Spaniard has revealed a love for history, he insists that he would have studied a subject related to sport.

"I would have concentrated a bit harder at school and put my mind to my studies," the 22-year-old told the club's official website. "I would probably have gone to university and tried to attain a degree related to sport. I also enjoyed history at school, learning about important dates and events."

De Gea has been a United player since he moved to Old Trafford in 2011 from Atletico Madrid.
