Sheringham urges Rooney to stay
Teddy Sheringham believes that Wayne Rooney should stay at Manchester United as he will struggle to find a better club.

Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham believes that Wayne Rooney should stay at Old Trafford.

The England international's United career is in doubt following Sir Alex Ferguson's claims that the striker asked to leave the club for the second time in three years earlier this season.

"I'd like to think Rooney will stay and carry on playing for United," Sheringham told the Manchester Evening News. "When you finish playing for United it's very hard to go anywhere better.

"You're playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world and there aren't many places you can go if you want your career to keep going up."

Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with the forward, while United's Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal are also thought to be keeping tabs on his situation.

Reports have claimed that Rooney will hold talks with new United boss David Moyes.
