Hull City owner Assem Allam: 'Labour's Ed Miliband should be more right-wing'

Hull City owner Assem Allam believes that Labour leader Ed Miliband should be more "right-wing" and that he could learn from Margaret Thatcher's approach.

Hull City owner Assem Allam has expressed his belief that Labour party leader Ed Miliband should adopt aspects of the Conservative approach to politics.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the Egyptian-born businessman revealed that he has donated £400,000 to Labour over the years, but admits that he is impressed by Tory prime minister David Cameron.

Allam, who was knocked back by the FA in his attempts to rebrand his club Hull Tigers, believes that Miliband could learn from late Conservative leader Margaret Thatcher, who led the country from 1979 to 1990.

"The Conservatives have got a point, a strong point, which is their ability to manage the economy," Allam told the newspaper. "I think Ed needs to be a bit more right-wing. He could learn from that Margaret Thatcher's approach - Tony Blair learnt from that."

The general election is on May 7.
