Fulham players make thank-you phone calls to fans

Members of relegation-threatened Fulham's first-team squad call fans who have renewed season tickets for next campaign to thank them for their loyal support.

Fulham fans who have already renewed their season tickets for next year were in for a pleasant surprise on Tuesday when some of the club's first-team players called them to thank them for their loyal support.

The Cottagers have been involved in a relegation scrap all campaign, but have boosted their survival hopes with consecutive wins over Aston Villa and Norwich City.

Encouraged by recent results, and enticed by a £100 cut on this year's prices, plenty of Whites followers have pledged to continue their support of a team that they hope will be playing Premier League football.

After participating in a training session ahead of their London derby with Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, Fulham stars such as Darren Bent, Sascha Riether, Scott Parker and Brede Hangeland phoned fans to show the club's appreciation.

Riether tweeted: "Me and my teammates are calling 2014-15 season-ticket holders to thank them for renewing."

Richard Osman, Fulham fan and host of BBC One quiz show Pointless, was one of the supporters to answer the call and tweeted: "Took me a minute to realise he meant THAT Scott Parker."

Fulham are currently two points adrift of safety with four games of their season remaining.
