Edgbaston evacuated after kitchen fire

Warwickshire County Cricket Club's Edgbaston is evacuated following a fire in the kitchen less than a day before England play a one-day international at the ground.

Edgbaston had to be evacuated earlier today after a fire broke out in the cricket ground's kitchen.

Two fire engines were called out to deal with a blaze at the stadium, which is due to host a one-day international between England and New Zealand on Tuesday.

Warwickshire County Cricket Club said on Twitter: "West Midlands Fire Service have dealt with a small kitchen fire on-site. No impact on tomorrow's game + thanks to everyone for your patience."

ESPN reports that the fire was caused by deep-frying chillies, and resulted in one member of staff being sent home, with others being checked by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
