Nasser Hussain: 'England have to become more ruthless'

Nasser Hussain is adamant that England have to become more ruthless to have a chance of beating Australia to regain the Ashes later this summer.

Nasser Hussain believes that England have to develop a ruthless streak to win the Ashes.

The Three Lions have taken the lead in their last two Test series against the West Indies and New Zealand, but were unable to clinch a series a victory as they fell to defeats in the final matches.

Hussain is adamant that Alastair Cook's men have to become stringent when chasing victory to have a chance of beating Australia to regain the Ashes later this summer.

He told the Daily Mail: "It's not a case of turning things around because the anomaly is they've won five of their last eight Tests but only one series in the past five.

"Basically, they are being sloppy and not ruthless enough when it comes to grabbing the key moments. When they go 1-0 up England must not take their foot off the gas. They need to have a meaner streak."

The first Ashes Test begins on July 8 at Sophia Gardens.
