A former police officer pushed a man who was allegedly racially abused by Chelsea fans while trying to board a Paris Metro train, a court heard.

Fifty-year-old Richard Barklie, from Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, is believed to have shoved Souleymane S twice to prevent him from getting on a train ahead of Chelsea's Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain in February.

A group of football supporters are then alleged to have chanted, "we're racist, we're racist and that's the way we like it".

Mr Barklie is one of four fans - alongside Jordan Munday, 20, Josh Parsons, 22, and William Simpson, 26 - facing football banning orders.

The court also heard how Mr Parsons leaned out of the train carriage during the incident to shout, "where were you in World War Two?" and "fuck the IRA".

All of the accused are challenging the bans.
