Manchester City's Twitter account is interacted with more than that of any other club in the Premier League.

Manchester City have topped the Twitter league table after the social network site discovered that the English champions' account was the most interacted with compared to their rivals'.

Twitter searched throughout all 20 Premier League clubs to decide who had the most followers, the most players using social media and how many people interact with the club's account by using hashtags and sharing content.

"We created the #TwitterLeagueTable to celebrate some of the great uses of Twitter by clubs, players and fans," the Birmingham Mail quotes a Twitter spokesman as saying.

"Whether it's Manchester City putting a hashtag on the pitch or top players like Rio Ferdinand saying hello to a fan on the train.

"The results highlight some of the most dedicated fan bases and socially engaged clubs, rather than those with simply the highest volumes of followers or most high-profile players."

Chelsea came in second place and Tottenham Hotspur were placed in third.
