A tribute to the 56 fans that died in the 1985 Bradford City fire was reportedly cancelled when the League Two side gave away a penalty in the League Cup final.

Bradford City supporters' tribute to those that passed away in a stadium fire in 1985 was reportedly ruined when their side gave away a penalty in the League Cup final.

The League Two side, who lost 5-0 to Swansea City at Wembley yesterday, are thought to have opted to pay their own tribute to 56 fans that died when a stand caught fire at Bradford's Valley Parade ground.

According to the Daily Star, the club's following planned to stand and applaud in the 56th minute, but their tribute was scrapped when goalkeeper Matt Duke was sent off for giving away a penalty in the second half.

The Bradford players paid their own tribute to the fans by wearing tracksuits embroidered with '56 - Always With Us' before kickoff.
