Barcelona star Neymar backs teammate Dani Alves after banana incident

Neymar supports his Barcelona teammate Dani Alves after he ate a banana that was thrown on the pitch in an alleged racist attack.

Barcelona star Neymar has offered his support to teammate Dani Alves after the Brazilian reacted to an alleged racist attack during his side's match against Villarreal.

In the second half of Barca's 3-2 victory at the Estadio El Madrigal on Sunday, a banana was thrown onto the pitch when Alves lined up to take a corner.

In response to the gesture, Alves picked up the piece of fruit, unpeeled the skin and took a bite out of it before delivering his kick.

After the match, Neymar posted a photo of himself and his son holding bananas on Instagram with the caption: "#somostodosmacacos #weareallmonkeys."
