Video: Dani Alves responds to 'racist abuse' by eating banana thrown on pitch

Barcelona defender Dani Alves takes a bite out of a banana after it was thrown onto the pitch in an alleged racist attack on the Brazilian.

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has made headlines for eating a banana that was thrown onto the pitch in an alleged racist attack on the Brazilian.

In the second half of the Catalan giants' 3-2 victory over Villarreal at the Estadio El Madrigal on Sunday, Alves lined up to take a corner kick.

While at the flag, a banana appeared on the pitch, which prompted Alves to peel off the skin and take a bite of the fruit before delivering the kick.
