Monaco's Eric Abidal quashes rumours of a cancer relapse

Monaco full-back Eric Abidal rubbishes rumours that he has suffered a cancer relapse.

Former Barcelona full-back Eric Abidal has rubbished rumours that he has suffered a cancer relapse.

A tumour was found in the 34-year-old's liver in 2011 and he was forced to undergo a transplant one year later.

Rumours emerged on Twitter claiming that Abidal, who now plays for Monaco, had been forced to retire from football after suffering the disease once again.

However, he responded to the rumours by tweeting: "Good morning, rumors in Twitter are not true. Training in La Turbie thinking about next match. Daghe Munegu @ASMFC_MONACO."

Abidal spent six years playing for Barcelona until he left the Camp Nou last year.
