IndyCar racer Justin Wilson saves six lives by donating organs following death

The brother of IndyCar racer Justin Wilson reveals that his sibling has helped save the lives of six people by donating his organs following his death on Tuesday.

British IndyCar racer Justin Wilson has helped save the lives of six people due to his decision to become an organ donor prior to his death on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old passed away in a Pennsylvania hospital after suffering a serious head injury during an IndyCar race on Sunday.

Wilson was hit by a piece of debris after a crash occurred in front of him during the race at the Pocono Raceway.

The late rider's brother Stefan Wilson tweeted on Tuesday that his sibling has helped six stricken people by donating his organs.

He wrote: "With #giftoflife justin-wilson saved 6 lives today. He just keeps setting the bar higher. Keep Julia & the girls in your prayers #myherojw."

Wilson's death is the second motorsport tragedy in two months following the death of Formula 1 driver Jules Bianchi, who passed away nine months after he crashed into a recovery vehicle at the Japanese Grand Prix.
