Neil Booth: 'Northern Ireland triples team can be proud of silver'

Northern Ireland lawn bowls skip Neil Booth says that his teammates can be "very proud" after finishing second in the men's triples competition.

Northern Ireland lawn bowls triples skip Neil Booth has said that his teammates can be "very proud" following their silver-medal win at the Commonwealth Games this morning.

South Africa beat Booth's team 19-10 in the gold-medal match this morning, while Wales secured bronze in the event.

He told BBC Sport: "You're always disappointed when you get a silver but the guys can be very proud. There's only one treble ahead of us and they played very well. It's been very satisfying coming back from the bad starts we've had, we could easily have fallen down in the quarter-finals.

"We've still got the fours to go so hopefully we can finish on a high, and I've no idea what the odds of a fairytale finish are. We'll have a couple of ciders tonight and then we'll get our heads right for the fours."

Booth was also part of the silver-medal winning triples team in 2006, and won a bronze with the men's fours in Delhi four years ago.
