Jodie Myers earns European gold after Commonwealth Games silver

Jodie Myers wins +78kg gold for Great Britain at judo's European Championships in Budapest following her Commonwealth Games silver.

Great Britain's Jodie Myers has scooped a gold medal in the +78kg event at judo's European Championships in Budapest.

The 19-year-old has admitted that she tried to keep the pressure off her shoulders after earning a silver medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in the summer.

"I went in there with the mentality that this was just another European Cup and I didn't want to put myself under any pressure," said Myers.

"I was relaxed and I feel that the last few weeks of training hard and digging down have really pulled off. I was so pleased I have won."

Myers trains with the British Judo Centre of Excellence at the University of Walsall Campus.
