England gymnast Nile Wilson suggests Scotland's Dan Purvis deserved to beat him

England gymnast Nile Wilson tells Sports Mole that Scotland's Dan Purvis deserved to pip him to gold in the parallel bars final at the Commonwealth Games.

Team England gymnast Nile Wilson has insisted that he does not feel disappointed to have missed out on a gold medal in the parallel bars final at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games due to the "unbelievable" performance by Scotland's Dan Purvis.

The 18-year-old led the scoring all the way through with 15.433, until Purvis delivered a routine worthy of a gold medal-winning 15.533.

"It was a great routine from Dan Purvis - it was unbelievable and I was happy to hit my routine and get a great score like that moving into the future," Wilson told Sports Mole.

"So, p-bar is definitely a piece for me, which I know I've got a chance in, so I'll just keep working hard and hopefully in the competitions to come I can keep producing those same performances."

As well as Wilson's silver, the Leeds-born gymnast scooped gold medals in the high bar and team finals, and a bronze in the all-around showdown.
