Team England gymnast Nile Wilson hails 'dream' Commonwealth medal haul

Commonwealth gold medallist Nile Wilson tells Sports Mole that he would never have dreamt of securing four gymnastics medals at the Commonwealth Games.

Team England gymnast Nile Wilson has admitted that he would never have dreamt of scooping four medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 18-year-old, who entered the senior ranks earlier this year, finished off his campaign with a gold medal in the high bar final at the SSE Hydro.

Prior to that, the Leeds-born gymnast earned bronze in the all-around final, silver in the parallel bars final and gold in the team final, alongside fellow England stars Louis Smith, Sam Oldham, Kristian Thomas and Max Whitlock.

"It's been absolutely amazing," Wilson told Sports Mole. "The start of the week, the team competition was the main focus and to come out with gold, that set us off really and I can't believe the medal tally I have.

"I wouldn't have dreamt it last week, coming away with two golds, a silver and a bronze. High bar final was amazing and a good way to finish competition [with] England first and second."

Thomas secured second place in the high bar final, while Kevin Lytwyn of Canada grabbed bronze.
