United States win Presidents Cup

USA win the Presidents Cup for an eighth time at Muirfield Village Golf Club, Ohio.

The United States have won the Presidents Cup for an eighth time by beating the International team by three points at Muirfield Village Golf Club, Ohio.

Fred Couples's team had built a six-point advantage heading into the Sunday singles matches, meaning that only a collapse of the magnitude of last year's Ryder Cup would stop them from getting their hands on the trophy yet again.

Tiger Woods secured the winning point against Richard Sterne in the ninth match as Nick Price's men led 5-3 in the singles.

Ernie Els, Jason Day, Graham DeLaet, Adam Scott and Marc Leishman had put the points on the board for the visitors, while Hunter Mahan, Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson kept the board ticking for the home team.

Charl Schwartzel and Angel Cabrera won points in two of the three final matches, closing the final score to 18.5 against 15.5.

Victory for the US marks their third in a row over the International team.
