Rory McIlroy broke another record as he emphatically won the Wells Fargo Championship for the second time in his career.
After shooting a course-record 61 on day three to open up a comfortable lead from Webb Simpson overnight, the Northern Irishman became the first man to pass 20-under-par in tournament history on his way to victory.
Despite an early dropped shot at the second, the world number one regained his composure with two birdies on the front nine to keep a buffer on the chasing pack, which was led by youngster Patrick Rodgers, who fired a 68 for a share of second with Simpson.
Further birdies at 12 and 14 saw McIlroy move four clear of Rodgers as victory at Quail Hollow appeared to be in sight.
When Rodgers found water at 17, his hopes of beating the Open champion were all but over as the deficit increased to seven strokes.
McIlroy finished his 72 holes on 21-under-par, finishing with a birdie at 16 and bogey at 17, as he won his second title on this course, which plays host to the 2017 US PGA Championship.
