Tiger Woods has refused to give up on winning this year's Masters despite being eight shots off the lead following day two at Augusta.

The 14-time major winner finished three-over par after a second round 75, while joint leaders Jason Duffner and Fred Couples sit on five-under.

However, Woods is hoping to emulate his performance of last year to come from behind and get among the leaders on the final day.

"One of the neat things about this tournament is the 10-shot rule and so anyone who has made the cut can still win it," said Woods.

"I was grinding hard out there. I didn't quite have it with my swing and I had to hang in there and be patient. I tried to give everything I had on every shot and tried to stay focused.

"I just need to cut the deficit down on Saturday and get off to a good start on Sunday."

The pre-tournament favourite is now 40/1 to win the green jacket for a fifth time.
