Lee Westwood will take a one-shot lead into day two of the Masters after he carded a round of 67 to leave him on five-under-par at Augusta National Golf Course in Georgia.

The world number two kept his cool with some excellent putting on a day when many others struggled around the famous course.

South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen is a shot further back with Sweden's Peter Hanson, while Scotland's Paul Lawrie is one of six players on three-under.

Rory McIlroy endured a tough day as the world number two ended amongst a glut of competitors at one-under.

Tiger Woods fared even worse as the American struggled with his driving to finish level on par with defending champion Charl Schwartzel and England's Justin Rose.

One of the most remarkable rounds of the day was from Sweden's Henrik Stenson, who had been on five-under going into the final hole. However, a horrific quadruple-bogey left him on one-under.
