Charl Schwartzel ends round one on par

A bogey on the final hole sees defending champion Charl Schwartzel end day one of the Masters on level par.

A bogey on the final hole of the day saw South Africa's Charl Schwartzel end round one of the Masters on level par.

Last year's winner recorded a round of 72 after an indifferent day at the Augusta National Golf Course in Georgia.

Despite getting off to a good start with a birdie on two, the 27-year-old bogeyed the fourth to put him back on par.

Another birdie saw him end the front nine positively before he encountered difficulties at 10 to bogey.

He went one-under once more on the 13th, but he again dropped another shot on the 15th.

Schwartzel nearly ended the day on one-under with his fourth birdie on the 17th, only to bogey the final hole of the day.
