Rory McIlroy says that he can now laugh at his disastrous collapse at last year's Masters.

Rory McIlroy has said that he can now look back on his final-round capitulation at last year's Masters and laugh.

The 22-year-old blew his chance of winning what would have been his first major championship when he shot 80 on the final day at Augusta National.

The Northern Irishman started the day with a four-shot lead, but it was Charl Schwartzel who eventually emerged victorious.

"Obviously there are memories — and memories you probably don't want. But it's fine now," said McIlroy. "It did make me cringe a bit. But look, it's great to be able to laugh about it now.

"I haven't changed any sort of game-plan or anything from what happened last year. I'm just really excited to be back here."

McIlroy went on to capture the US Open title at Congressional two months later.
